May Than Nu's birthday performance on January 30, 2010

Myanmar famous actress, May Than Nu will hold the special performances as a mark of her 49th Birthday and 25 years of her artist life on January 30, 2010 at Kan Daw Gyi Myaw Zin Gyun Park, Yangon. A-Nyein’ (non-dramatic performance where a female artiste dances and sings to the accompaniment of light music and is usually supported by comedians), One-Act Play and Music Concert will be included.

However, sadly, this is not free show like Pyay Ti Oo’s Birthday Party. May Than Nu said if it is a free show, it will be crowded and may have many problems during the shows so that her fans need to buy tickets to celebrate and enjoy the performances. Many famous celebrities of Myanmar will participate and perform together with May Than Nu on that day.

FFSS Founder Kyaw Thu Defies Court Summons

The founder of the Rangoon-based Free Funeral Services Society (FFSS) has defied an order to appear before a court to answer a charge that the FFSS is continuing to operate its clinic despite an official order to close.

Kyaw Thu, who founded the FFSS in 2001, was ordered by Rangoon’s North Dagon Township City Development Committee (Municipal) to appear on Thursday before a court in South Dagon Township.

Kyaw Thu told The Irrawaddy on Friday that he had deliberately failed to appear.

“If they put me in prison, I’ll just go,” he said.

Singer Mee Mee Khae, Wife of Singer Htoo L Linn, gave birth her lovely first babe girl on October 22 at Aung Yadanar Special Clinic.

Myanmar singer couple, Mee Mee Khae and Htoo L Linn are having the happiest moment with their first babe girl. Htoo L Linn said that he loves her daughter so much although he wanted to have a son before.

Burmese actress Eaindra Kyaw Zin to visit USA in November

Myanmar famous actress, Eaindra Kyaw Zin is going to visit United States of America on 7th November together with her mother. They will stay in U.S.A for a month.

Eaindra Kyaw Zin said that she has plan to do some meeting party with her fans in U.S.A and she will also perform with singing too. Eaindra also added that she will pay a visit to U.S.A because she has never been there before and she also want to do shopping there.

Miss People Style Competition 2009 in Mandalay

Miss People Style Competition 2009 was held on October 4, 2009 at Sedona Hotel, Mandalay. This competition was mainly organized by Myanmar People Magazine and another competition will be held in Yangon on coming November 1, 2009. According to Organizers, some of profits from selling tickets of both competitions (Mandalay and Yangon) will be donated to Orphanages.

Actress Marion Cotillard Calls for Aung San Suu Ky’s Release in Paris

Stepping out for what she believes in, Marion Cotillard attended a silent gathering to support Myanmar detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi in Paris on Tuesday evening (October 6).

Held in front of the Paris city hall, the event saw supporters each lighting a candle and observing a moment of meditation to mark their support for the former Nobel Peace Prize winner.

According to French reports, the demonstration was organized with the assistance of Information Burma, the FIDH, Amnesty International, Collective S.O.S for Aung San Suu Kyi, the League of the Human rights and Human Rights Watch.

Leading the solemn event was Jane Birkin, who declared yesterday evening: “All the actions, even those which can appear most negligible, most ridiculous, are actually important.”

Celebrity: Htet Htet Moe Oo Unlucky for First-born Baby

Htet Htet Moe Oo confirmed A Linn Tan Journal that her first born babe, a son, died after given birth on September 20, 2009. Htet Htet Moe Oo said that her son was alive when she gave birth, but, unfortunately he died within minutes because there was a hole in his heart according to the doctors' check up.

Htet Htet held the funeral of her son on September 21 at Yae Way Cemetery, Yangon and donated things to monks for her son on September 26 at the monastery.

Music: NHK broadcasts G Latt's "Kha Na Tar" in Japan

NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, is showing Myanmar singer, G Latt's Love song, called " Kha Na Tar" on one of their TV channel which is mostly broadcast about Myanmar programs. This is the very first time for broadcasting Myanmar Music Video on NHK. G Latt's " Kha Na Tar" Song is chosen to broadcast on NHK because this song is own tune and also its instrumental music and music video are in good quality.

Former Actor Kyaw Hein banned from delivering religious talks in Pegu

Former Burmese Actor Kyaw Hein, now a Buddhist monk, was banned from making religious talk in Pegu.

Kyaw Hein, the most popular actor in the Burmese film industry, surprised fans with an announcement that he will retire in October, 2008, to become a Theravada Buddhist monk.

A vegetarian for the past several years, Kyaw Hein said he will enter the monkhood in November, and he plans to visit more than 100 townships to deliver religious talks, in a sort of farewell tour which will extend into 2009.

The 61-year-old actor disclosed his decision at a press conference on September 2, in which he thanked journalists for writing about him during his 40-year career. The entertainment press gave the superstar’s announcement respectful attention, although some questioned if he was right for the role of an ascetic monk.

Burmese actress Soe Myat Thuzar is single again

Soe Myat Thuzar’s marriage to U Myo Min has officially ended. After almost a decade of being married, Soe Myat Thuzar is now divorced and is a single woman again.

U Myo Min lives in the United States of America and Soe Myat Thuzar used to stay in U.S after they got married. There is a rumor that Soe Myat Thuzar is hanging out with Actor, Kyaw Ye Aung.

Lazy Club Continue Third Performance in Washington D.C.

Chit Kaung, Zaw Paing, Rzarni, Thazin and Lazy Club continued their third performance in Washington DC on September 13, 2009. Myanmar former popular singer, May Sweet also joined with Lazy Club Band and sang together with other singers.

According to the Organizers of this U.S. concert tour, the performances will be continued in North Carolina, New York, Indiana and Florida.

British Singare Jane Birkin urges the incoming Japanese government to pressure Burmese generals

British singer and actress Jane Birkin held a news conference on September 15 in Tokyo to urge the incoming government to pressure Myanmar's military junta to promote democracy.

Birkin, 62, who wrote a song called "Aung San Suu Kyi" and has participated in demonstrations against the junta, is in Tokyo for a concert this week.

She said sanctions should be placed on Myanmar, which has been under military rule for nearly 50 years, but they must be effective because they could also harm ordinary people.
