Burmese actor Zaw One passed away on August 12, 2009

Famous Burmese actor and singer, Zaw One at the age of 64 died on August 12, 2009 from liver disease at Thiri Sander Medical Centre, In Sein Township, Yangon, and he left his wife, Daw Thant Shwe Zin Win, four children, Ya Min Zaw One, Herry Zaw One, Yin Yin Zaw One, Phyo Thain Ka Zaw One, and nine grandchildren.

He was born on July 17, 1945 in Mandalay. He was the son of U Thine Chit Tha Kin Thein Pe and Daw Mya Mya. His real name was U Thaung Dan, and his nickname was Maung Tar. He attended Tine Chit High School until Ten Standard. He was taught singing and acting by U Bo Kin, the founder of the Moe Kathy A Pyaw Tan Musician Group (Zaw One also sang with them). After marriage, he went to school. Then he studied acting method at Shue Ma Wa U Kyaw. His first role was in "Chwe Ka Lay Sol Sol," directed by Shue Ma Wa U Kyaw. The film "Say Lo Yar Say" which he starred together with Swe Zin Htike made him famous. Through his career, Zaw One acted in many films. He also produced some albums as a singer. He was particularly famous for the film "Thingyan Moe" and he was thus also known as Thingyan Minthar (Water Festival Actor). Zaw One was well-known for both his singing and acting.

He starred in many movies including Chwe Ka Lay Sol Sol, Say Lo Yar Say, Thingyan Moe, Lu Ma Naw, Nay Htut Taw Nya, Tit Kha Ka Tit Bawa, Myittar Bon Tho Nit Khaund, Kyaun Taw Nit Ko Ba Kyaw, Doe Nit Youk Nit Mi Nyein Chan, Bal Thu Pyine Lo Hla Par Taw Naing, Kyaw ko chit ma lar Zaw ko chit ma lar, Ngwe Yupa, Hot Shot (2), and Hot Shot (3).
